Community Days - CV History Museum

November 1, 2025 November 2, 2025

Admission to the museum is FREE every first full weekend of the month!

💀💐 Día De Los Muertos Ofrendas are on display starting this weekend 💀💐 And ADMISSION IS FREE November 1st and 2nd! Open 10am-4pm Saturday 11/1 and 1-4pm Sunday 11/2.

Ofrendas are altars decorated to honor deceased loved ones, incorporating their photographs, water, salt, candles, and marigolds to guide their souls back to our world, as well as their favorite foods, pan de muerto (bread of the dead), sugar skulls, personal objects that belonged to them, and representations of the four elements - earth, air, water, and fire - to welcome their spirits back during Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Día de los Muertos has pre-Hispanic indigenous roots, incorporates elements of Christianity, and is celebrated in Mexico, Latin America, and the United States.

This year’s beautiful Ofrendas are the creations of local artists and families. We are grateful for the time, creativity, resources, and passion they’ve put into creating these unique altars.

Visit Coachella Valley History Museum this weekend to see the Ofrendas for #DíaDeLosMuertos as well as our newly renovated Cahuilla Exhibit, the Smiley Tyler Adobe House that will celebrate 100 years in 2026, and much much more!
